Mariana Velázquez

Mariana Velázquez, ceramist and sculptor from Veracruz, in her studio

Born in Xalapa, Veracruz. In her training as a ceramist, she had masters such as María Bofill, Kitoichi Kishimoto, Enrique Mestre, Juan Ortí, among others.

Awards and Recognition

She has held more than 25 group exhibitions and 23 solo exhibitions. In 2022, she received recognition from the Veracruz Institute of Culture for her artistic career. In 2016, she was awarded the National Ceramics Prize, Sculpture category, San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico.

In 2014, she received the 38th National Ceramics Award ‘Galardón Pantaleón Panduro’ for her career, work and national contribution dedicated to enriching the country's ceramic cultural heritage. Since 2019, she has been a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) and from the same year until 2022 she was part of the National System of Art Creators (FONCA). From 2024 to 2027 she is part of the National System of Art Creators (SNCA).
